The SSEA/SÉÉA’s Annual General Meeting/Scholars’ Colloquium and Symposium 2016 is scheduled to take place on the first weekend in November 2016. The topic of our themed symposium, held on November 5th, is “Masterworks of Ancient Egyptian Art”. The Scholars’ Colloquium and Poster Sessions will be held on Friday Nov 4th and Sunday, November 6th. As noted in a previous news item, on August 24th, at a meeting of the Society’s Board of Trustees, it was decided that there will be an additional event on Thursday, November 3rd; this will be a fundraising event at which we hope to raise money towards the Sally L.D. Katary Travel Scholarship. There will also be a very short presentation in memory of Dr. Katary on Sunday, followed by a showing of the National Geographic special on tomb robberies in which she featured.
In addition, those who wish to dedicate their presentations in the Scholars’ Colloquium, Symposium and Poster Session to the memory of Dr. Katary will be allowed to do so. In order to accommodate those who now might wish to come, the deadline for submissions has been extended to September 15th for papers and September 30th for posters. Those submitting proposals or abstracts to firstname.lastname@example.org will receive notification of acceptance within 1 week, provided that they have followed the proper format.
