This year's Sally Katary Memorial Lecture takes place on Saturday 15th May at 1:00pm EST and will be a virtual event that will take place online.

The presenters will be Prof. Jean Revez, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and Prof. Peter Brand, University of Memphis. Our co-presenters are the directors of the Karnak Great Hypostyle Hall Project. Their joint presentation is entitled:

Gaining New Perspectives on the Hypostyle Hall at Karnak: The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) – University of Memphis Project at Karnak”.

Since 2011, the project has been recording and studying the complex decoration on the columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall in the Temple of Amen-Re at Karnak. With generous funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the US National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and other agencies, the project has employed photogrammetry and other emerging technologies to enable researchers to gain new insights into the elaborate decorative program and complex epigraphic history of the columns, as well as the virtual reconstruction of fallen columns that are no longer in situ
